A High-Velocity Water Spray (HVWS) system is a specialized fire suppression system used to rapidly extinguish fires involving flammable liquids with high flash points (typically 65°C or higher). It is particularly effective for protecting large-scale industrial equipment and facilities where oil fires are a significant risk, such as for transformers, Fuel Oil storage tank, Furnace oil tank etc. The HVWS system uses a combination of three fire suppression principles to quickly control and extinguish fires like Emulsification, Cooling, Smothering. The high velocity nozzles are specifically designed to discharge a jet of water at high speed. 05 Medium velocity sprayers discharge a water spray of finely divided droplets at medium velocity. They are ideals for protecting hazards involving light oils where emulsification from high velocity sprayers is not possible.
